With the acquisition of additional pledge donations received for a building project to house homeless women and children in a new facility, the board of directors of Sunshine Rescue Mission made a decision: Begin construction with the donations received as of May 13, 2009 and continue as long as funds last. On May 17, 2009 supporters gathered at the the building site on Johnson Street, and prayed while under a shade tree across the street. Two weeks later they received word from the Federal Home Loan Bank that a $1,000,000 had been awarded to build New Hope Cottage. Hence, construction has not ceased from the day it first began. Two hundred fifty-seven thousand dollars is still needed to complete the building, and furnishings will be a cost beyond that. We thank all of you for your support and pray God will enable those with remaining pledges to have the financial abilities to cover their commitment of goodwill and faith. We’re “on a roll.” Let’s keep the project moving forward.
